Producer info and cup notes:
Tesfaye Bekele originally started his career working for the Ethiopian government in Natural Resource and Environmental Protection. During that time, Guji suffered from a series of large bush fires that devastated the area. In an attempt to help rejuvenate the local agricultural communities, Tesfaye began trying to distribute coffee seedlings. However, when local farmers were told these coffee seedlings would take 5 years to produce a decent harvest, they turned him down. After this, Tesfaye decided to start his own farm, Suke Quto. Upon seeing his success, the locals began to plant their own coffee trees with seedlings from Suke Quto. Flash forward to today, and Suke Quto has its own washing and drying stations, and collects cherry from over 171 outgrowers spread across Guji. This Honey or semi-washed process coffee was depulped using a disc pulper that left most of the mucilage on, before being dried on raised beds for 9-15 days.
Cup notes: The cup opens right up to an electric lemon-lime acidity, with loud and poppin pomegranate and apricot notes. Incredibly juicy and sweet, with lovely chamomile and vanilla undertones.
