A fine expression of the Ethiopian profile enriched by nutrient-dense soil: delicate florals & blueberry sweetness.
Located in the Gedo zone, Chelbesa is one of the best coffee producing areas in the famous Gedeb Woreda. Surrounded by dense layered forest, banana trees and shade trees, Chelbesa is a great example of high quality sustainable coffee farming.
This Heirloom was cultivated by around 500 local farmers, delivering their cherries to the central mill. This lot was nourished by the red brown soil it was grown on, which is particularly fertile, rich in iron and has high acidity content.
Chelbesa finely displays the Ethiopian cup profile, with delicate florals & a blueberry sweetness.
SNAP coffee built their new wet mill in 2019 within the Chelbesa Village, and they now purchase red cherries from nearby farmers.
This lot has been processed as a traditional natural. Cherries are received and sorted with flotation tanks to separate underripe crop. The cherry is cleaned within this process in fresh water, afterwards, the coffee is moved to raised drying beds for a period of 28-25 days.
