We realised early in the season that man, this was a good year for Kenyans. As such we took the leap to contract a few more lots and we're very glad that we did - joining us as our second factory from the Inoi FCS (alongside the returning Kaguyu) this is one of the most classic Kenyans we've featured since last year's Karumandi AA. You don't realise how much you miss that slightly savoury-sweet-bright blackcurrant/tomato tang until you hit an entire crop year without it.

In the dark days of yore (literally) we used to think any hint of tomato in a Kenya was a roast fault. We've instead come to love it, so long as it isn't the dominant feature in the cup but merely a supporting note to purple+red flavours. A feature, not a bug ;)

We're tasting:
Such a classic Kenya - we find aromatics of blackcurrant cordial, brown sugar and fresh tomato vine. In the cup it's all blackcurrant while hot - much like warm Ribena, with a really rich + sweet + bright meaty backbone that reminds us of ripe Costoluto Genovese tomato, with blackberry jam and hibiscus as the secondary notes. As it cools becoming a little brighter and zippier, like rhubarb soda, with a hint of rose.
